Sarashi is a light, soft cotton that has a slightly open weave which is perfect for sashiko work.
This soft cloth can be used for napkins, handkerchiefs and tea towels.
Traditionally this cloth is doubled and then stitched to create a suitable thickness. Doubling the cloth also allows one to hide any stitching and knots between the layers to give an attractive finish on both sides.
